When Was The Last Time You Talked to An Active?

FaceBook  Twitter

Often times, we hear someone on the news, or on the football game, or on the radio, or in the office and you say “Man, I really hate that guy.”

But do you actually hate him? Do you have a good reason for it? Do you even know them?

Let’s take a step back: maybe you do actually know them. Maybe you’ve met and he said something about your sister/mother/brother/father/dog/cat/house/car…etc. and that gave you enough reason to dislike him. But if you don’t actually know them, why not meet them?

This year is a year of exploration of self and others. While we all generally agree that we think actives are people who don’t really respect their living situation, don’t respect the values set forth in front of them, and certainly don’t respect the alumni, we want to change our own perception of the actives. We will come into this with an open mind.

When was the last time you really cared to talk to an active? Was it your last homecoming appearance? Was it out of the blue using our web resources? Was it…never?

We may need to consider taking a more active role in the rearing of our actives. After all they do become our future alumni. So we should set them up right.
